Turntable sales fell last year despite rising vinyl sales

Sales of turntables fell in 2017 despite continued growth in sales of vinyl. GFK report that purchases of turntables are down 5% compared to 2016, despite a 240% rise in turntable sales from UK retailer John Lewis in 2015. It may seem contradictory considering the continued rise in popularity of vinyl, but considering the shelf life of turntables, once you’ve committed it’s unlikely you’ll change your setup, nor is the second-hand market taken into account.

Turntable manufacturers aren’t slowing their output with popular home hi-fi manufacturer Pro-ject recently announcing Debut III S.
